James and Karla Murray have been photographing the streets of New York City since the 1990s; Store Front II details their efforts to document this important sector of New York’s  ‘Mom and Pop’ economy.

In their archiving the city’s often hidden treasures, the Murrays have documented the stories behind the store fronts.

This is a beautiful ode to classic, New York, independently owned businesses including bodegas, candy shops and record stores and well known restaurants, bars and cafes. From the Stonewall Inn to the Brownsville Bike Shop and The Pink Pussycat to Smith and Wollensky, and to yes, Kaufman’s Army & Navy.
